Installation of the Treatment Device / Connecting the Main Unit and Accessories
MD21
When connecting the electrode plates to the main unit of the therapy device, what is the relationship between the color of the marking band (red/blue) and the connection method?

You can connect the cable with either color (red or blue) to either "Output 1" or "Output 2."

However, be sure to use the same color for the marking bands on the AC and YD electrode plates connected to “Output 1” and “Output 2,” respectively— for example, use either red or blue for the marking bands on the AC and YD electrode plates connected to “Output 1.”

When performing treatment using the “one hand and one foot” method, which should I select: “Output 1” or “Output 2”?

You can select either "Output 1" or "Output 2" (it makes no difference which one you choose).

This is because the structure, mechanism, and components of “Output 1” and “Output 2” are identical .
However , to ensure an even distribution of the load on the components of “Output 1” and “Output 2,” we recommend selecting them without bias.

What are the roles of the AC electrode plate and the YD/BD electrode plates?

The AC electrode plate is designed to supply electrons to the body, while the YD/BD electrode plates are designed to draw electrons away from the AC electrode plate. To introduce electrons into the body efficiently and effectively, two different types of electrode plates are required.

Treatment Methods/Matters Related to Treatment
MD21, MD11, MSD
What is the recommended treatment duration per session and number of sessions per day?

Please follow your doctor's instructions.

For standard treatment times, please refer to the user manual [ MD21 User Manual, p. 13; MD11 User Manual, p. 9; MSD User Manual, p. 9].

From the very beginning, if each treatment session is long or if you have multiple sessions per day, you may experience fatigue or a general feeling of weariness. If this is your first time receiving treatment, please start with a short session (about 5 minutes) and gradually increase the duration to allow your body to adjust.

Malfunction/Failure
MD21, MD11, MSD
I felt an electrical sensation at the start of treatment or during treatment.

Did you forget to attach the electrode pads after starting treatment?

If you touch the YD/BD electrode pads after touching the AC/ACs electrode pads, you may feel a tingling sensation caused by an electrical discharge.
Please attach the electrode pads before beginning treatment.

During the treatment, did the electrode pads come loose from your body?

If you feel a tingling sensation from the YD/BD electrode pads or similar components during treatment, the YD/BD electrode pads or similar components may not be in full contact with your body . Secure them tightly with the belt so there are no gaps.
If you need to remove the electrode pads during treatment, be sure to turn off the power switch first.

The sound coming from the electrode plate is faint.

Reltech conducts output tests on the therapy units themselves, the electrode plates, and combinations of these, and ships only those that pass these tests. Therefore, even if the sound is faint or there is no sound at all, the device can be used normally.

The sound heard from the electrode plates is the sound of electrons passing through them. This sound varies depending on various factors, such as the condition of the electrode plates and humidity; however, there is no correlation between the output from the device itself and the volume of the sound. Furthermore, it does not directly affect the device’s therapeutic performance.

If you suspect that the device may not be outputting energy, please use the Energy Check function to verify this.

MD21 and MD11
The unit does not turn on even when the power switch is turned on. The display does not light up.

Are the power cord and AC/DC adapter connected properly?

  1. Plug the AC/DC adapter cord into the AC/DC adapter socket on the back of the unit to connect it.
  2. Be sure to insert the power cord connector all the way into the AC/DC adapter's power cord socket.
  3. Plug the AC/DC adapter's power cord into a power outlet to connect it.
The connection error light flashes and an error beep sounds. An error code is displayed.

If you start operation while the electrode plate plug is not properly connected to the socket on the main unit, or if the plug becomes disconnected during operation, the unit will stop running, an intermittent error tone will sound, and the pink LED indicating a connection error will flash. An error code will also appear on the display.

Please refer to the error code explanations in the [ MD21 User Manual, p. 29, and MD11 User Manual, p. 22], identify the connection point where the plug is loose, and ensure it is securely plugged in.

No operation sound is heard when the control button is pressed. No completion sound is heard after treatment ends.

Is the volume set to "b-0 (mute)"?

Set the volume to “b-1”–“b-3” [ MD21 Owner’s Manual, p. 24; MD11 Owner’s Manual, p. 18].

MSD
The unit does not turn on even when the power switch is turned on. The display does not light up.

Are the power cord and AC/DC adapter connected properly?

  1. Plug the AC/DC adapter cord into the AC/DC adapter socket on the back of the unit to connect it.
  2. Plug the AC/DC adapter's power cord into a power outlet to connect it [ User Manual, pp. 12–13].
Display Flashing Error

Even if the plugs on each electrode plate are properly connected to the main unit, if the electrode plates are not in close contact with the body or if the device is used in a room with low humidity, electrical current flow may be impaired. This can cause the treatment current to deviate from the appropriate range for effective treatment, resulting in a flashing error on the display.

If the display frequently flashes an error, please wear lighter clothing or wear the device directly against your skin to ensure it fits as snugly as possible.
Also, adjust the room temperature and try moisturizing the skin where each plate is placed.
The display flashes and an error tone sounds.

Is the plug on the electrode plate properly connected to the socket on the main unit?

Insert the plug on the electrode plate into the socket on the main unit to connect it [ User Manual, p. 10].

Is the electrode plate cover properly attached to the belt?

Please attach the electrode plate cover to the inside of the strap (on the wrist side) [ User Manual, p. 10].

If you attach the electrode plate cover to the outside of the belt, the electrode plate will no longer come into contact with your wrist. The main unit will interpret this as a “conduction error,” and an error tone will sound after a short while.
Additionally, if you continue to use the device in this state, static electricity may build up on your body, posing a risk of electric shock.

Are you removing the electrode plates while driving?

After turning off the power switch and stopping operation, remove the electrode pads from your body.

If youremove the electrode pads from your bodywhile the device is in use without turning offthe power switch, the device will interpret this as an “electrical abnormality” and an error tone will sound after 30 seconds.
Additionally, removing the electrode pads without turning off the power switch may cause static electricity to build up on your body, which could result in an electric shock.

The LED indicator on the display (which lights up blue when the power is turned on) flashes, and a notification sound plays.

If the electrode plates, electrode plate covers, or the body parts in contact with the electrode plates are damp, or if the room becomes humid, electrical current flows more easily, which can cause the treatment current to rise and exceed the optimal range. While this does not pose a safety risk, it can reduce the effectiveness of the treatment.

To prevent this from happening, the device will stop operating, flash its LED light, and emit an alert tone.

Are the electrode plates and electrode plate covers dry?

Please make sure these are thoroughly dry before proceeding with treatment.

Is the part of your body where the electrode pads are in contact damp from sweat or something similar?

Before treatment, remove any moisture from the affected area by wiping away sweat or similar methods.

Is the humidity too high indoors?

Please use an air conditioner, indoor dehumidifier, or similar device to reduce humidity before beginning treatment.

Accessories (electrode plates, Energy Check, etc.)
What is the service life of the electrode plates?

We recommend replacing it once a year.

The insulating coating on the AC electrode plates gradually deteriorates with use. In our in-house durability tests, the insulating coating on the AC electrode plates failed after approximately 1,000 hours of continuous power supply (continuous use). Furthermore, deterioration may accelerate depending on factors such as indoor humidity and the condition of the electrode plates.

In light of the above points, the fact that many customers use the therapy device frequently, and the belief that excessive deterioration of the AC insulating coating on the electrode plates has a significant impact on treatment effectiveness, we have decided to recommend replacing the device once a year.

In addition to the above , if any of the electrode plates—including the AC electrode plate—are damaged (e.g., damage to the cable sheath, a broken cable, or a damaged electrode plate plug), this may prevent the device from functioning properly or may compromise treatment safety; therefore, please replace them with new ones immediately.

To purchase, please visit the online store listed below, or contact a retailer or Reltech.

Why must the AC and BD (YD) electrode plates not come into contact during treatment?

The operating principle of the therapy device is that the AC electrode plate applies an electric potential to the body, while the other electrode plate, BD (YD), removes the applied potential. This is because if the AC and BD (YD) electrode plates come into contact during treatment, the electric potential is removed without passing through the body, which reduces the therapeutic effect.

Even when I check the electrode plates using the Energy Check, "OK" does not appear.

Is the output setting set to "Output 1" or "Output 2"?

After setting the output to "Output 1 + 2," please check it using the Energy Check function.

Have you touched the electrode plates inserted into the Energy Check?

After inserting the electrode plate into the Energy Check, release your grip on the electrode plate to activate the Energy Check.

Are you using the Energy Check on a level surface?

Please activate the Energy Check on a level surface.

Aren't you checking it over and over again?

If you perform the inspection repeatedly, the Energy Check may become charged and stop displaying “OK.” Please wait a while before performing the inspection again.

Can the Energy Check detect degradation of the electrode plates?

I can't confirm that.

The Energy Check allows you to verify the following two points:

  1. Whether the main unit is outputting a signal—Whether the main unit is malfunctioning
  2. Cable Continuity—Whether the Cable Is Conducting Electricity (Due to a Break, etc.)

Please note that the volume of the sound coming from the electrode plates may vary depending on the environment and other factors, so it should not be used as a basis for determining the device’s output.

I hear a high-pitched whining sound coming from the AC adapter. Is the unit itself okay?

This is a phenomenon commonly known as "coil noise," and it does not pose a safety risk to the unit.

This is commonly referred to as “coil hum” and occurs to some extent due to vibrations in the coils or transformers used in AC adapters.
Please rest assured that this is not a malfunction.

Furthermore, AC adapters have obtained product safety certification under the Electrical Appliance and Material Safety Act, and compliant products display the Specific Electrical Appliance Mark, so there are no safety concerns .
If this bothers you, we recommend using an extension cord to keep the AC adapter away from your ears.

Do I have to use an insulating mat? How should I use it?

The use of an insulated mat is a prerequisite for electrotherapy.

Without using the insulating mat, an electric field (a space with an applied voltage) cannot be generated around the body, and the potential therapy function will not work. Therefore, please use the insulating mat. On the other hand , the power supply function which is separate from the potential therapy function is not believed to be affected by the use of the insulating mat.

Please note that regardless of the treatment position—whether supine, seated, or otherwise—and regardless of whether a blanket or similar item is placed on top of the insulating mat during treatment, an electric field is expected to be generated as long as neither the body nor the blanket extends beyond the edges of the insulating mat. Therefore, there are no restrictions on the treatment position in this regard. However, from the perspective of promoting the circulation of the supplied electrons throughout the body via the bloodstream, we recommend treatment in the supine position.

How do I care for an insulated mat? Can I wash it in the washing machine?

Do not wash in a washing machine.

While the material used in insulated mats is not necessarily unsuitable for machine washing, it does not absorb moisture easily, which could cause the washing machine to malfunction. Therefore, we recommend the following care instructions.

  1. Wipe it dry with a soft cloth.
  2. If the stain is difficult to remove, wipe it with a cloth dampened with a neutral detergent, then let it air dry thoroughly in the shade.
Other
How much does it cost to run the therapy device?

Assuming 5 treatment sessions per day, with each session lasting 30 minutes (2.5 hours of use per day), the monthly electricity cost would be :
1. Reltech MD21 (Power consumption: approx. 2W): approx. 5 yen
2. MSD Reltech (Power consumption: approx. 2W): approx. 5 yen

*Calculated based on an electricity rate of 31 yen per kWh. However, this may vary depending on your utility company and the electricity rate plan you have contracted.

Is it okay to undergo treatment while wearing metal necklaces, watches, and rings?

The device works by applying an electrical potential to the body through electrode plate AC, and then extracting that potential through the other electrode plate, BD ( YD).
If electrode plates AC and BD (YD) come into contact with a ring or other jewelry during treatment, the electrical potential will be discharged without passing through the body, reducing the therapeutic effect. Therefore, please remove any jewelry that may come into contact with the electrode plates before treatment. Alternatively, please keep the jewelry as far away as possible during treatment.

Is it okay to turn the power on and off using the switch on the extension cord?

We do not recommend turning the device on or off using the extension cord’s switch while the main unit is already turned on . This is because you may not be able to recognize the LED indicating that the power is on, the display, or the audible signals, and there is a risk of electric shock if you attach the electrode pads to your body after the device has started operating.
